Yet another masterpiece acquired at about the same time as "Fat Baby" and "Old-Time Fiddler....". The stars must have been lined up perfectly that month as evidenced by my great fortune at finding all three pieces over one weekend. I'm sure that some family proudly displayed this work in their home for many years; what I just don't understand is why they would ever get rid of such a personal work of Art? I have a feeling that this was done by a professional portrait painter for a good deal of money if we judge by the quality of the painting and the signature of the artist. This is another favorite and has been displayed on my living room wall for more than a decade.
