Although the medium of this work is not oil or acrylic, I think that it fits right in with the rest of the paintings in the galleries as far as artistic vision and subject matter go. This piece was painstakingly cross-stitched with colored thread by some certainly long-gone and unidentified genius. Notice the toothless grin, the confidence with which the fiddler hefts his bow, and the loving attention to detail in the clothing and violin. I'm sure this work must be at least 75 years old, but it's framed so nicely that I hesitate to pull the frame off to check for a signature or date.
