"Cubist Alien"

E. Kleckner, 1964, 15" x 30"

See also "Glowing Orange and Green Space Creatures" in Gallery I. This painting hasn't been taken out of storage for display in a long time, but looking at it now I realize how much I like the piece. Kleckner has mimicked the cubist style with great success, and I think this painting would be right at home on the walls of any modern household. As an aside, I would like to take this time to lament the passing of the old Maxwell Street Market on the South Side of Chicago, where I spent many Sundays mornings searching for forgotten masterpieces. Maxwell Street is responsible for more than a few pieces in my collection, including this one. If you missed visiting Maxwell Street during its heyday, be sure to rent "The Blues Brothers" for an idea of what the Market was all about.
