The gospel is spreading! It appears that a piece of Thrift Store Art was used in the latest Pottery Barn catalog. Could there be a Gap ad in our future?
Print Media - In January of 2003 I was interviewed by The Chicago Reader about Thrift Store Art. Although the story was featured on page 10 of the April 18th issue, the following week we made the the cover of the Suburban version of the paper ("But Is It Art?").
Broadcast Media - The Thrift Store Art collection was recently featured on local PBS show "Wild Chicago". Additionally, the piece was chosen for inclusion in the "Wild Chicago" book published in late-2003 under the "Wild Artists" heading.

ROCK the VOTE - Voting results at 4/15/02 stand as follows: Kurt - 22, Paul - 18. Make your voice heard by e-mailing your opinion on whether the horrendous (What? Who said that ....) "Pebbles and Friend" submitted by Kurt Benbenek should be included in my collection.

New Zealand comic strip genius Roberto Corona was so inspired by my site that he based an episode of his "Life in Heck" on on it, aptly titled "Ugly Man in Dress". You can also read my correspondence with Roberto regarding the strip. See ya' in the Funny Pages!
There's more Duberchin-mania afoot! Read what Faithe and Michael Duberchin also have to say about "Bearded Wilderness Explorer with Coonskin Cap and Boots, as well as my original correspondent, Barry Duberchin.
ROCK the VOTE - Although singing for my supper has for the most part paid off handsomely, every once in a while I get a donation that does not quite make the grade. Last month Kurt Benbenek submitted "Pebbles and Friend" which I regrettably rejected for inclusion in the galleries. In spite of my 10+ years of experience with these things, Mr. Benbenek took vigorous exception to my rejection of his donation, and he suggested that I leave it up to the public to decide whether or not to include his painting on my site.
Recent additions resulting from the work of our The Thrift Store Art donation outreach program include"Blue and Orange Biblical Scene in Distressed Gray Bathroom Tile Frame (4 Missing Tiles)" and "Giant Eagle with Patriot and Flag in Red, White, and Blue". Budding philanthropists everywhere are encouraged to make a donation to the Gallery.

Thanks to four new paintings graciously donated by the Vitale Family Arts & Culture Foundation, Gallery VI (paintings temporarily on loan from other institutions) has passed the normal twenty painting Gallery limit. However, in order to showcase all "virtual donations" in one convenient facility, Gallery VI now grows to 22 paintings.
Read what Barry Duberchin has to say about my site, and about "Bearded Wilderness Explorer with Coonskin Cap and Boots" in particular...... I have also heard from Don Frades regarding "The Surrealist Masterpiece".
The Thrift Store Art donation outreach program continues to bear fruit, with recent additions including "Apocalyptic Gas Mask" and "Still Life with Humpty Dumpty, Pistol, and Boots". Budding philanthropists who wish to assist in our mission to uncover neglected works of Art waiting to be discovered in Salvation Army stores across America are encouraged to make a donation to the Gallery.

The Thrift Store Art donation outreach program continues to bear fruit, with recent additions including the "Small Dutch Couple Beneath Yellow Tulips" and "Lone Eye Peers Through Frightening Foliage". The PSB Gallery of Thrift Store Art was recently featured by KOIN online as their site-of-the-week. In other media news, the April issue of Genre Magazine (RuPaul cover) included the collection in their new "Website Reviews" column. Our donation outreach program has started to bear fruit, with recent additions including "Thrift Store Cat" and "Thrift Store Dog".
Controversy continues to surround the new donations to Gallery VI as the Board of Directors heatedly debates the practice of "virtual bequests". However, the pioneering (non-virtual) bequest by A. Lester of "The Breast" bodes well for future donations. Budding philanthropists continue to offer their assistance in our mission to uncover only the bravest and the boldest works of Art, waiting to be discovered in Salvation Army aisles across America.
