"Portrait of Man in Maroon Blazer"

1950, 19" x 23"

Fairly typical midcentury portrait notable for the exquisite handling of the velvet jacket and the extremely dark palette of the piece. The jacket looks like you can almost feel the softness of the material from anywhere you stand, but the dark tone of the painting gave me fits trying to capture the image on camera. However, I discovered that photographing the piece with natural light outside the house at about 5:30 pm worked perfectly. Overall, a very nice package: Signed, dated, nice frame, good size, and interesting technique.
