I'm pleased to report that the identity of the above mystery baby was recently revealed! The following e-mail was received from Peter Madden in April of 2006, and while I told Peter I could not part with the painting in question just yet, he will be the first to know about it when/if that day comes....
Hi - my sister often sends me links to treasures on your site - I'm a huge fan of thrift shop painting (still regret not buying a $50 Brigit Bardot on velvet....). Yesterday she discovered the attached - left side is your painting, right is a picture of me when i was a kid that was taken for the cover of McCall's. Just wondering if you would consider selling the painting. In any event - keep up the good work!
